SAE-A_Small_Blue-on-White

The Society of Automotive Engineers Australasia (SAE-A) is looking for a suitable university student for an internship for a period not less than 2 months, and not more than 6 months.  The number of hours per week will be negotiated based on the candidate's availability and all work can be performed remotely but office attendance is encouraged. The role is not a paid position.

Tasks will be assigned to assist the SAE-A with research and development, developing lists, as well as website enhancements and improvements. Projects will be consistent with the successful applicant's skills and interests.

SAE-A is a professional association that works to serve the needs of its members in the mobility engineering sector and advocates to governments, industry, and the community in general.

The Australian Automobile Association wants to appoint a Technical Adviser to join the Policy and Research team to bring a high degree of technical expertise to inform policy issues relevant to the AAA. Reporting to the Director - Policy and Research, this position will play a key role in providing technical guidance, which will directly inform the AAA’s advocacy to government and external stakeholders.

 

  • Work independently, and provide advice on a range of public policy issues of interest to the AAA and its members including vehicle emissions, fuels, and emerging vehicle technologies;
  • Assist in developing and delivering a coordinated strategy of representation on policy issues to government and other external stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain a network of professional contacts within government and among other stakeholders;
  • Develop strategic and technical advice to the AAA Board on relevant public policy issues;
  • Participate in consolidated AAA activities such as the Public Policy Forum.

The successful candidate will require strong academic credentials in engineering (or related field) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to demonstrate your technical prowess and the necessary aptitude to digest the complex nature of this industry. Your technical proficiency and understanding of government policy development would be well considered in this role. As a key member of the Policy and Research team, you will bring strong analytical skills, strong communication and report writing capabilities, and the ability to build networks with both internal and external stakeholders.
