About the Awards  

SAE-A is very pleased to present the 2026 Mobility Technology Excellence Awards.

These awards encompass all areas of mobility engineering including electric, autonomous and combustion engine technology, aerospace and defence, heavy commercial vehicles (on-and-offroad), rail and rolling stock, recreational, micro-mobility and specialty vehicles. We also invite mobility industry supply chains, research and development (R&D) agencies and service organisations to apply.

We will be celebrating the success of all award recipients and winners at a dinner held at Leonda By The Yarra, Melbourne on Thursday 10th September 2026 from 6 pm.

Excellence Award Categories

  • Corporate - awarded to businesses and organisations.
  • Student - awarded to both under-graduate and post-graduate students.
  • Professional - awarded to young engineers, women in industry and those who have made a significant contribution to the mobility engineering sector.

 

A Mobility Technology Excellence Award has always been considered a prestigious accolade within our industry and offers significant recognition across the sector.

All award nominations are reviewed by an expert panel of judges comprising of highly experienced and respected engineers in their field. All award-winning entries will be published in both the SAE-A’s quarterly Vehicle Technology Engineer (VTE) magazine and other transport engineering publications as well as the SAE-A website and various on-line platforms.

Companies and individuals may self-nominate or can be recommended for nomination.

All entries close on 29 May 2026.

 

The Mobility Technology Excellence Awards welcomes submissions in the following areas:

  • Leadership;
  • Design and engineering;
  • Product development and engineering innovation;
  • Operational improvements and process efficiencies;
  • New materials or lightweighting;
  • Environmental impact and sustainability;
  • Engineering services; or
  • Research and Development (R&D).

The awards will attract nominations from design, engineering and service organisations, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), secondary manufacturing, product manufacturers, supply chain, R&D agencies, academia and individuals.
