Formula Student Fundamentals in Design, Process and Teaming

The SAE-A is pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar designed to help teams prepare for Formula SAE-A 2026.

If you’re looking to push your design, engineering, and endurance scores to the next level, this one-hour session will provide practical guidance and tips to help set your team on a roadmap for success ahead of the December 2026 competition.

This session is also suitable for both new and experienced teams, with a strong focus on refining design processes and elevating team performance.

Topics will include:

· Fundamentals of design, engineering, and processes

· Building a strong team culture for better results

· Leadership and inclusion within a project management environment

The event will be delivered by SAE-A Member Michael West, Managing Director at Sulphurcrest Learning. Based in Wollongong, NSW, Michael is an experienced and approachable engineering leader with over two decades of professional and technical experience.

He brings a strong capability in integrating design, engineering, systems, and project management, while maintaining a focus on practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. Known for his people-first approach, Michael is passionate about teamwork, continuous learning, and helping individuals and teams succeed.

In this session, he will also highlight the importance of developing behaviours and capabilities that will set students up for success with their future employers.
