NTRO announces 2027 conference theme
27th May 2026
The National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) has revealed the theme for its 2027 International Technical Conference, with the event set to focus on helping transport systems “thrive” amid growing operational and infrastructure complexity.
Under the banner Making Transport Thrive in Complex Times, the conference will be held in Melbourne from May 23-26, 2027, bringing together transport leaders from government, industry and research sectors.
According to the organisation, Australia’s transport networks are increasingly being challenged to “do more, perform better and adapt faster” while continuing to support the communities and economies that rely on them every day.
The conference theme reflects what NTRO describes as a belief that complex operating environments create opportunities for innovation, collaboration and practical problem-solving.
The event is expected to attract participants from across the road, rail, ports and aviation sectors, with discussions set to focus on both current challenges and the technical and operational solutions needed to improve transport system performance.
NTRO said the conference would move beyond simply identifying industry issues, instead concentrating on delivery strategies and innovations capable of strengthening transport networks in rapidly changing environments.
The 2027 conference is anticipated to continue NTRO’s long-running role as a key forum for transport infrastructure research, policy development and emerging technology discussions across Australia and the broader international transport sector.
