Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia (SAE-A) will host a new webinar examining how vehicles are reshaping the Safe System Approach to road safety, with a strong focus on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and evolving infrastructure design.

Traffic Vehicles and Logistics Pty Ltd (TVL) will present the online session, titled ‘The Changing Role of Vehicles in the Safe System Approach to Road Safety’, in partnership with Datum Road Safety Pty Ltd.

The webinar will explore how the rapid adoption of ADAS is changing vehicle capability and influencing driver behaviour, while also acting as a stepping-stone toward fully automated vehicles.

Topics will include real-world on-road dynamics, how drivers respond to new technologies, and what these changes mean for the planning, design and operation of road infrastructure under evolving safety standards.

The session will be led by Johann Tay, Director of TVL, and David Beck, Director of Datum Road Safety, who will share practical insights from crash investigation, prevention and Safe System implementation.

The goal of the webinar is to improve safety outcomes for all road users and support professionals working in road transport technologies.

The webinar will be held online via Microsoft Teams on Thursday, May 28 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, including a Q&A session. Attendance is free for SAE-A members, while non-members will pay $55 and non-member students $25.
