Singapore-incorporated robotics company Strutt has officially launched its first product, the Strutt ev¹, at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, unveiling what it describes as a new category of “smart everyday vehicles” designed to sit between traditional mobility aids and compact electric vehicles.
The ev¹ arrives with significant early recognition, having secured both the 2025 Red Dot: Luminary Award and the 2026 CES Best of Innovation Award in the Vehicle Technology and Advanced Mobility category. According to the company, the vehicle combines automotive-grade engineering with robotics and human-centred design to address common frustrations around personal mobility, including accessibility, navigating tight spaces and the social stigma attached to conventional mobility devices.
Strutt chief executive, Tony Hong, said the project was inspired by his grandmother’s experience of moving from a bicycle to a tricycle as her strength declined.
“The Strutt ev¹ is not a conventional mobility device; it is a smart everyday vehicle designed to expand people’s worlds,” Hong said, adding that the goal was to create movement that feels predictable and intuitive, allowing technology to fade into the background.
At the heart of the ev¹ is the evSense system, a 360-degree sensor architecture combining LiDAR, cameras, time-of-flight and ultrasonic sensors to provide constant environmental awareness. This underpins features such as Co-Pilot and Co-Pilot+, which smooth user inputs and apply proactive braking, as well as more advanced Auto-Pilot functions that allow users to select destinations on a map or through natural-language voice commands.
The ev¹ is driven by Strutt’s Quad-Drive system, using four independent motors and automotive-style active steering to deliver precise control and real-time torque distribution across varying surfaces. Performance figures include a top speed of 13 km/h, payload capacity of 160 kg, 13-degree climbing ability and 80 mm of ground clearance.
Strutt says the ev¹ has been designed as a “living platform”, with over-the-air software updates planned to add new features and refinements over time.
