Successful SAE-A tours

23rd October 2025
The Society has hosted tours at the Alstom facility in Perth and the Bosch factory in Melbourne in the past few months.

A dozen attendees got an inner look at Australia's leading rail manufacturing and maintenance facilities at the Alstom facility in Perth in late August.

This exclusive guided tour gave attendees a firsthand look at Alstom’s operations, including the latest technologies used in train assembly, testing, and servicing. Those in attendance were shown advanced mobility solutions, safety protocols, and innovations driving the future of rail transport, including: the inner workings of modern rail manufacturing, insights into sustainable and smart mobility solutions, and real-world applications of engineering and project management in transport infrastructure

Meanwhile, 21 participants were given a tour of the Bosch factory in Melbourne in September.

Attendees gained insight into the inner workings of Bosch’s core departments and discovered how the company is continually innovating to stay at the forefront of engineering technology. Topics covered included:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
  • Two-wheeler and Powersports
  • Trailer technologies
  • Vehicle Motion
  • Motorsports
  • Body electronics
  • Automotive Development Centre
  • Lab tour

Keep an eye on future eNews and VTE Magazine publications and the SAE-A website (www.saea.com.au) for information on future tours.
