SHINE A LIGHT ON ROAD SAFETY
12th April 2021
To reduce deaths and injuries on our roads, we encourage everyone to turn on their headlights while driving on Friday 21 May and join the Road Trauma Support Services Victoria (RTSSV) campaign.
RTSSV is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free information, support and counselling to more than 3,000 Victorians impacted by road trauma each year; and addresses the attitudes and behaviours of road users through education.
The third week of May is National Road Safety Week and the United Nations Global Road Safety Week and iconic landmarks across Australia will be illuminated in yellow for road safety.
On Friday 21 May, messages along all major Victorian roads will ask motorists to turn on their headlights to show support for road safety.
The annual Shine a Light on Road Safety walk is an important event for the community to connect, acknowledge the devastating impact of road deaths and injuries, and inspire action on road safety. The walk starts at 11am on Sunday 2 May at Albert Park Lake, Melbourne.
Shine a Light on Road Safety has the support of the Victorian Government, the Transport Accident Commission, VicRoads and Victoria Police.
