ABSTRACT

Robots have started to play a greater role in our daily lives. The notion of human in the loop to human on the loop is discussed covering aspects of tele-robotics, tele-presence, haptics and autonomous systems research. Recognition of human intentions, planning and actions from multimodal signals in robotics and autonomous systems are explored. Several areas of application from manufacturing to military domains will be demonstrated. Major challenges are discussed in the journey towards full autonomy and the shift from human in the loop to on the loop.
