FEATURED EVENTS

    • 03 Apr 2017
    • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (UTC+10:00)
    • 36 Viking Drive, Wacol, 4076, QLD

Every Mack truck, custom built for the Australian and New Zealand market, comes to life at the Australian production facility in Wacol, QLD.

Join SAE-A as we take you on a tour of the world-class facility and Australia’s largest heavy duty truck production plant. The plant has a staggering annual maximum capacity of 3,000 trucks!

Located west of Brisbane, the 7.4 hectare plant has complete chassis, cab and final assembly lines, an offline rolling road testing facility, a dedicated training school and much more.

The Wacol plant prides itself on its highly progressive manufacturing practices, with lean manufacturing and an Operational Management System at the core of its operation. The facility is also highly invested in a proactive approach to environmental care, safety and quality. Energy use and wastage have both been reduced in recent years.

Note: Children below the age of 16 are not permitted in the factory.

    • 07 Apr 2017
    • 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
    • Australian Automotive Aftermarket Expo - Clarendon Room, Level 5, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre

    Presented by: Phil Dunn

Phil Dunn started working as a mechanic in the 1960s, run and owned his own automotive workshop, completed an engineering course and graduated as a professional engineer, and has worked in this area of automotive engineering both as a consultant and for Holden over this 35 year period. There are few better experts in Australia that could facilitate this course.

    Benefits to Attendees:

Civil court action is proceeding against a large number of businesses in the service and repair industry and these actions are occurring right now.

However, the SAE-A is able to provide a brief introduction to the processes involved in minimising or eliminating the risk of these actions being bought against service and repair businesses. The seminar will involve the importance of work orders and customer contracts, an in depth analysis of case studies that the seminar facilitator has been involved with, and an understanding of the legal sequence of events involved with such cases.

    Style of Presentation:

The presentation will be informal and is heavily focused on case studies and using real situations. The discussion will be interactive, and participants are encouraged to ask questions to ensure that everybody leaves with an understanding of the basic principles.

Directions to the Clarendon Room at the Expo:

The best way to access this room is:
    - Park under the Exhibition Centre which is off Normanby Road, park between door 1 and 4
    - Walk up the steps, turn right and keep walking until you see a customer service desk on your right hand side. Behind the customer service desk there is lift to take you to Level 5.

    Or

If you enter via Clarendon Street  the customer services desk is on your left hand side, the lift is located behind the desk, take this up to level 5.

Many people will think of Mindfulness as something for those that are mentally fragile or weak, but Formula 1 racing legend Derek Bell is a firm believer in the practice.

Bell talks about his ability to focus on any given task with 100% concentration, thinking of nothing but "tire pressure, how much gas was left, and how the car felt going into a turn."

Mindfulness practice reduces stress, anxiety and worries by managing how we deal with our thoughts and our emotional reaction to those thoughts, streamlining our working efficiency, for optimal performance.

Our presenter Phillip Chen has taken this course worldwide, delivering it to high level managers including those from: Excel Indonesia, Tesltra, VACC and Ford Motor Company.

Mindfulness teaches us how to reduce the distractions from our working environment as well as our constant stream of thoughts, so that we can improve our focus of attention on tasks at hand, thus improving our effectiveness in everything that we do.

If you'd like some more information on the course, feel free to contact us in the National Office on (03) 9676 9568.

    Presented by: Phillip Chen

Graduate Diploma of Psychology – Deakin University
Masters of Counselling - Victoria University
BSc. In Mechanical Engineering – Southampton University
MSc. In Automotive Engineering - Southampton University
